Research and Development

The Purdue/Mundipharma/Napp independent associated companies were among the first to develop controlled release technology and successfully apply it to many useful medicines. They currently employ over 1,000 scientists in the US, UK, Germany and Canada who work in research and development. This international research group is at the forefront of new controlled release delivery technology. The developments include systems that utilise slow release spheroids within capsules, and controlled release resin formulations, which gradually release a drug within the digestive tract.

Recent years have seen a change of emphasis from drug-delivery technologies and developments to more ambitious early-stage research and drug discovery. Today there is an impressive international resource in place that includes approaches such as target discovery and validation, biology, combinatorial chemistry and immunotherapeutic discovery, development and manufacture amongst others.
